I am a bit behind with reading the RSS’ed posts from The Chase Jarvis Blog. In trying to catch up, I just came across one from Feb 20 2009 titled “Zack Arias Nails It: Transform“. Um, wow! I am not going to say any more beyond, “Watch the video, all of it, it’s GREAT.”…

Also, please visit his site, which has some great work! Zack Arias

As I said in my last post, I had to go to Taylor yesterday, and decided to mill around and take some photos. The ones of the trains are in the last post, and these are the others. They aren’t great, but I liked em…

So, like all little boys, I still love trains. I don’t think any of us ever outgrow a love for the big railed monsters, just some of us try to deny it. Well, I don’t hide it. I still get giddy every time I hear one coming. I love the feeling I get when I’m standing next to one. Sounds kinda odd, but they really center me on how small I really am in this world. Yea, I don’t know, but I love them.

Here are a couple of pics I took in Taylor yesterday. I really wanted to get some better, closer shots, but I was in a hurry and didn’t have time to explain myself if/when they would come harass me about taking shots at the rail yard. You know everyone with a camera and an interest in odd subjects must be a Terrorist, right?

On to the pics:

Just a quick shot I took for my wife. This is one of her favorite flowers, which is in her flower bed…

Cell Phone Art?

May 1, 2009

So I like to follow a photographer named Chase Jarvis. He does what he calls an “iPhone Portfolio”, which consists off creative pictures taken w/ his iPhone. His idea got me thinking, and I came to the realization that while the cameras in most cell phones really suck in the quality department, that just makes them more fun to play with. If you have a camera w/ no realoptions/settings, and realitively bad IQ (image quality), it makes it that much more of a challenge to be creative, and that’s the whole point in the first place, creativity, right? That, and the pictures you get from a phone can be quite unique in their IQ, contrast, color range, etc.

So, with that in mind, I started my own project. It is a Picture-A-Day project, and it will ALL be done w/ my phone (an HTC G1 w/ Android). I will take *at least* one picture a day with it (probably more), and post it on the site. I have some basic editing features on the G1, which I’m sure I will use in moderation (resize/crop/contrast/etc). I’ll try to only do renaming and maybe sizing on the laptop. Basically, all the pics will be posted as taken and mildly edited on the phone itself laptop in Picasa (I found that ATM, editing w/ PicSay on the G1 kills the EXIF, including geo-tagging. I’ll do it in Picasa, which still limits me a great deal, and promotes creativiy). Hopefully this will just get more interesting as it goes. Please check out the site and feel free to comment!

The site I setup to do this is:   www.BittenLips.com

Here is one of the pictures I have done so far (yesterday):
